Beyond the HoardIn response to the International Society of Typographic Designers' brief for 2021, titled 'Putting Things in Order'. The publication aimed to explore the topic of Hoarding Disorder (HD) from the perspective of hoarders, focusing on understanding their motivations for hoarding rather than the specific items they accumulate. The audience was encouraged to empathize with hoarders and gain insight into their mindset and organizational methods.

It visually expresses the challenges that hoarders face while attempting to control their disorder. Through the medium of a newspaper format interspersed with case studies, it portrays the juxtaposition between external chaos and the internal sense of order perceived by hoarders. Typographic elements are utilized to convey moments of both control and disarray, mirroring the emotional turbulence experienced by those grappling with the disorder.

The inclusion of case studies, ranging from mild to severe, serves to illustrate the spectrum of hoarding behaviors and culminates in a message of hope. Furthermore, the imagery featured throughout highlights seemingly insignificant items within the hoarder’s environment, emphasizing their profound attachment to even the most mundane possessions. Ultimately, this project aims to evoke empathy and understanding by inviting readers to gain insight into the world of hoarders and appreciate the complexities of their condition.
