DreamcatchrDreamcatchr, a modern opera produced by the Royal Irish Academy of Music, explores the relationship between sisters Polly and Jane. Jane, disillusioned with her mundane life, delves into coding to create a dream-catching app. However, her obsession consumes her, blurring the boundaries between her dream world and reality.

Developing the opera’s visual identity from the script and production notes, the focus was on capturing Jane’s enthrallment with coding. The design, incorporating mixed media art, features a striking juxtaposition. A vibrant green paint stroke covers half of Jane’s face, representing her immersion in her coding obsession, while the finely pixelated black and white half signifies her detachment from the real world. This imagery poignantly reflects Jane’s internal struggle as she becomes consumed by her ambition.
